NORTH BRISBANE | SOCIAL POTTERY SESSIONS
By Emma Vrbnjak
A first pottery course is more than a class. It is often the moment people realise they are more creative, capable and patient than they thought. Clay has a way of meeting you exactly where you are, whether you arrive nervous, curious or convinced you are “not artistic”. At The Pottery Patch, our 4-week hand building and wheel throwing workshops are designed to give beginners time to settle in, practise and see real progress. In one session you get a taste. Over four weeks, you begin to understand the rhythm of clay. You learn how clay behaves, how your hands influence shape and how small adjustments make a difference. You also discover that mistakes are not failures; they are part of the learning. Every wonky pot, uneven rim and unexpected glaze result teaches something useful. By the end of a course, many people have not only made pieces they are proud of, but also found a new way to unwind, focus and reconnect with themselves. That is why the first pottery course can feel like the beginning of something bigger.
