Terms, Conditions, Attendance and Collection of Pottery
BOOKING RESCHEDULES & REFUND POLICY
Our venue holds limited seating, and many of our sessions sell out. For this reason, we require a minimum of 48hrs for cancellation of your booking. This will allow us to offer your spot to another Customer. You can email us at admin@thepotterypatch.com.au or contact us via Instagram or Facebook messenger to cancel. For last minute cancellations please text our studio number <insert> – please note we do not attend this phone on weekends. We will respond in the working week – your cancellation will have a time stamp.
Please note, we do not offer refunds. However, if you cancel in our minimum requirement time frame, we will credit your full payment towards another session.
If you cancel outside of our minimum requirement time, you will lose any payments you have already made. This is due to the small nature and limited seating of our sessions. Cancelling less than our minimum means we will be unable to fill your space or offer to someone on our waitlists.
In some cases we may offer a partial credit for late cancellation or charge a rebooking fee only. As a small business, we do our best to accommodate and offer multiple slots for sessions, to make our services accessible. We do however reserve the right to cancel or reschedule sessions if necessary, with reasonable notice (48hrs). Our no refunds policy still stands in this occurrence, and a full credit valid for 6 months will be issued, so you may join us again sometime in the future!
LATE ARRIVALS
Due to the session structure and introduction required at the beginning of sessions, if you are more than 10 minutes late, and furthermore, have not contacted us to let us know of this late attendance – your booking will be cancelled, and/or you will be asked to reschedule. No refunds or credits apply for arriving late. Due to health and safety requirements outlined in the demonstrations at the beginning of sessions, and out of respect to our other attendees, and our time, we cannot accommodate late comers.
Additional accommodation like double demos, or starting sessions late, takes away time from other customers who arrived on time and were present for the introduction and necessary orientational instructions.
Please be on time- it is recommended you arrive 10 minutes early to find a park and be ready to begin at the allocated time.
NO SHOWS / NON-ATTENDANCE
If you do not attend your session without prior cancellation or notification within our time frame minimum for rescheduling/cancelling, you unfortunately lose your place and payment.
We understand that life gets busy – we urge customers to take responsibility for booking dates they can attend and to have agency over making sure you notify us with ample time if you are unable to attend your booking. No refunds or credits are available for non-attendance without notification.
For FREE Glazing Session no shows/late cancellations- you will be required to rebook and pay the full price of the session. In some cases we may only charge a rebooking fee of $15* subject to change.
HOLDING OF STUDENT WORK IN STUDIO
Please note that we have limited storage space, and cannot indefinitely store pieces. UNGLAZED WORK WILL BE HELD FOR 4 WEEKS ONLY before it becomes a donation for glazing classes, or given away.
GLAZED & FINISHED WORK IS HELD FOR 2 MONTHS ONLY and then given away to charity if uncollected. If you know you will not be coming back to Glaze within 4 weeks, you can collect your work unglazed and bring it back when you have time. You can also contact us to put it aside for you, but we will only hold work for an extra 14 days past the 4 week cut off. The Pottery Patch is not liable to replace your pieces or offer refunds if you do not collect work before hold period cut offs.
FIRING AND BREAKING POLICY
The Pottery Patch Hand Building session operate over two sessions: The first will be making the work(s). This will be instructed by one of our teachers who will run through some basic hand-building methods to get you started and provide you with some guidance along the way. The Pottery Patch provides all the tools necessary to get you started.
Once the work is complete it will be fired in the kiln. Your items will be ready to glaze or collect 2 weeks after your initial session (unless otherwise specified).
Although all care is taken to ensure the work gets to the kiln and back to you in one piece, Pottery is not a risk free process – The Pottery Patch takes no responsibility for any breakages during the drying and firing process or any explosions in the kiln.
Pottery is an art and can take years of practice to master, so do not be disheartened if your work does not make it as even the most experienced potters have work come out of the kiln in a way they didn’t imagine.
The second part of the process is glazing (painting and sealing your work). Once the work is back from the first firing, you will book a glazing session and come back to glaze your work. Once this session is complete the work is put in the kiln again. At this stage, the work is generally more resilient to damages however they can still occur and The Pottery Patch takes no liability for broken work.
Please note we have very few breakages and they are rare as we work with you throughout the entirety of session, to ensure you have built the piece to a standard that will survive in the kiln.
Adventurous students (or those who decide to disregard instruction) generally find their work breaks as they take on a piece out of their experience, or build with clay inappropriately outside of necessary techniques.
Our teachers will usher you to change your idea if they believe it has too much risk of breaking, but it is ultimately your choice to follow their advice or not.
We do not refund any breakages.
Once you have collected your work, The Pottery Patch holds no liability for damages to your pieces that occur outside of the studio. Please note that we have limited storage space. UNGLAZED WORK WILL BE HELD FOR 4 WEEKS ONLY before we store it in a box and it becomes a donation to others to glaze. GLAZED WORK is held for 2 months and then given away if uncollected.
If you know you will not be coming back to Glaze within 4 weeks, you can collect your work un-glazed and bring it back when you have time. You can also contact us to put it aside for you, but we will only hold work for an extra 14 days past the 4 week cut off. The Pottery Patch is not liable to replace your pieces or offer refunds if you do not collect work before hold period cut offs.
